Welcome to the Open Source Developer's Forge
The Open Source Developer's Forge is a site for Open Source project hosting and collaboration.
- Tired of Sourceforge? Clutter? Stagnation of features? Having to wade through download pages with ads to actually get to a download link?
- Sick of Google Code telling you what OSI-approved licenses you're not allowed to use on projects you want to post there?
- You've come to the right place.
The only requirement to host a project on this site is that it be open and that is has an Open Source license, as set forth by the Open Source Initiative.
Tools provided to assist you in your project include:
- Project versioning and hosting, using svn (Subversion), git, others on request (Hg/Mercurial).
- Wikis, Message forums and mailing lists to help you collaborate.
- Content management systems and other publication mechanisms.
- Storage facilities and webspace including web development systems and databases.
- A project framework with mechanisms to control access and structure work.
Background
The Open Source Developer's Forge project was initiated by eRacks Open Source Systems, and is also supported by a growing list of Open Source-friendly companies and organizations, including Libre Hosting, osdf.com, and others.
Thus when deciding to host projects or place your work on Open Source Developer's Forge you can be certain it will have a stable and permanent home.
Contact us (joe at osdf.com) today to contribute and be mentioned here with a link!
The software which powers this site, is based on Django, and the KForge system, which are both Open Source software to which anyone is allowed to contribute and everyone is welcome to use. (Unlike many other so-called "Open" project hosting sites, such as Sourceforge, which are NOT Open Source).
